1. The colored pencil techniques that were effective in my art piece was starting out my pressure very lightly so I can successfully blend the colors together in the moth wing. I blended using a circular motion, and I think that helped blend better. 2. It was very important to use transparent layers in my drawing because it helps the color blend better and turn out looking more smooth. 3. My composition was fairly successful, I think I should have used a different color background, or make the wing a bit more darker, just so the wing would have more emphasis, rather than the background. 4. Color choice was very important since the moth wing has many hidden colors in it. For example, I used light layers of blue in the wing to bring out more color, even though the wing was not blue. I used purple flowers to go with the green since I know purple is complementary of green, I thought the colors would pop more. 5. I used my knowledge of Okeefe by creating something related to nature, and making it very colorful since I know she created lots of colorful art pieces. 6. I think my craftsmanship was pretty good, on the moth. But, the background could have used more detail and time on it, since it was sort of rushed. Overall, I am still pretty happy with the way it turned out. 7. If I was an art critic I would appreciate the color choices in my piece and the detail in the moth wing. But I would suggest more dimension and depth since it looks fairly flat. 8. If I was able to do something different, I would have made the background less detailed, maybe a solid color, or not as many flowers. Just because I think it takes focus off of the moth. 9. What I learned in this unit is that it is important to really take your time with colored pencils because if you dont, the colors will not blend correctly. This has improved my development in art because ever since I started using prisma colored pencils, I have taken more time and patience in order to blend colors smoothly.
